1. There are stations having the maximum frequency deviation of 75 kHz, and the
maximum audio frequency for the modulation is 15 kHz, find its deviation ratio.

Given:

δmax = 75 kHz fm(max) = 15 kHz

𝑫𝑹 = δmax
fm(max)

= 75 kHz 15 kHz = 0.2

2. Determine the peak frequency deviation for a FM modulator with a deviation

sensitivity of 12 kHz/V and a peak modulating signal of 9V.

Given:

𝑘2 = 12 kHz/V 𝑉𝑚 = 9V

𝜹 = k2Vm

= (12 kHz ) (9V) = 108 V

V
3. If the maximum frequency deviation of the carrier is 10 kHz and the maximum
modulating frequency is 6.7 kHz, find the modulating index.

Given:

𝑓𝑑 = 10 kHz 𝑓𝑚 = 6.7 kHz

𝒎𝒇 = 𝑓d
𝑓m

= 10 𝑘𝐻𝑧
6.7 𝑘𝐻𝑧 = 1.49

4. A PM signal has a maximum allowed deviation of 22 kHz and an actual deviation

of 5 kHz . What is its percent modulation?

Given:

δactual = 5 kHz δma𝑥 = 22 kHz

%𝒎 = δactual
δma𝑥 x 100

%𝒎 = 5kHz
22kHz x 100 = 23%
