Sanremo’s festival

One of the most famous festivals in Italy is the Sanremo’s festival, a

really important festival for the italian music. It is based in the city
of Sanremo, the music is played in the Ariston theatre during the
months of January, February and March and it started in 1951. The
show is both followed in person and on tv. Usually the artists that
participate are already famous or at least have a solid fanbase, and
they all have a label behind, there are no independent artists. They
play different songs during the show and they get voted by the
audience. The winning artist is the one on the top of the chart
made out from the votes. The audience from home can vote by
paying 1€ per vote via sms. The genre of music that is played is
usually soft italian music, which I personally don’t really like. A
group that recently won Sanremo and brought a fresher music was
Måneskin, which is a rock group of young guys from Rome that are
currently having a lot of success worldwide, in fact the are doing a
tour in the US and they’ll make a European tour that is sold out!

Some charts that I recently saw show that the audience is regularly
decreasing over the years, but that doesn’t really surprises my
since my generation isn’t interested about tv shows anymore, at
least not as the oldest generations. I think that the turning point will
arrive when they’ll understand how to make those type of contests
and festival using massively social medias, but it is really hard to
imagine that since social medias are characterised by frenetic
rhythms and short posts.
