Injustice in the Philippines: Plight of the Lumads

By: United Methodist Church

Lumads is what we called indigenous people, they are the one who lives in lands, mountains,

forest, they’re life was the land, they’ve been living there ever since that’s why taking you away

from the place where it all started is hard.

Injustice in the Philippines-The plight of the lumads is about Lumads who got forced to leave

their homes and transfer to an evacuation center in Davao City, it was hard to adjust especially

having too many of them in just a small place. Their economic life was affected by it, their

source of living was all left behind, they can’t even eat properly. The education of the Lumad’s

children was all affected, they can’t even have a proper place for them to study, for them to

pursue their dreams in life, they even get separated from their families, from their loved ones.

Poverty is a big problem of the country and, taking someone away from their homes can’t give

us money, instead of doing that, give a proper support, give enough materials for them to help

because things keep getting more worse. Lumads need help, a hand that will guide them to their

safety.
