Summary of the Lesson Students will learn the culture of Poland and the
different aspects of their school system. After
briefly learning about culture, students will be
assessed using Kahoot.
Materials Required ● Poland PowerPoint

● Kahoot!

Objectives Students will be able to:

● Recall facts about Poland’s culture.

● make observations about Poland’s culture.


Assessment Students will be assessed through a Kahoot at
the end of the presentation

Procedure BEFORE:

Anticipatory Set:

The teacher will ask students to turn to their


table and discuss all of the background
knowledge that they already have on Poland.

Developing Schema:

After discussing, the teacher will ask students to


redirect their attention back to the front of the
room. The teacher will ask one person from
each group to name one fact they know about
Poland. Each student will then be asked to take
out a piece of paper and draw their own t-chart.
The teacher will write each named fact in a list
on the board in one half of a t-chart on the
“before” labeled section. The other section will
be labeled “after”. The students will be following
along, filling out the “before” portion of the t-
chart.

Statement of Learning:

Students will be learning different cultural facts


and differences about Poland.

DURING:

Teacher Modeling:

The teacher will begin by showing the students


the powerpoint and discussing the information
given at hand. The teacher will play the video at
the beginning of the powerpoint. After watching
the video, the teacher will say one thing that
they found surprising from the video. The
teacher will then ask students to turn to the
people at their table and discuss what they
found interesting from the video.

Checking for Understanding:

The teacher will then ask students to volunteer


to share something about Poland that they
found interesting. The teacher will continue on
with the power point up to the Kahoot.

AFTER:

Closure:

The teacher will ask students different things


they have learned about Poland’s culture
through the lesson. The teacher will write their
answers on the other half of the t-chart labeled
“after”. The teacher will then compare the facts
on the before side to the after side.

Differentiation Students receive a kinesthetic education by


writing down the information on the board on
their own charts. Students who are high level
learners will be asked for write down two of
their own facts instead of one.
