CELL DIVISION

1) Cell speacialize to produce to produce different type of cells

+ EX: Red blood cell (for transporting O2)
+ Light sensitive
+ Brain cell

2) Body Organization
Cells => Tissue => Organ => Organ system => Organism

3) 4 functions of Cell Division

+ Replace the old cells
+ Repair the body
+ Grow larger
+ Reproduce

4) The cell cycle

When a cell receive a signal to divide, it beams a series of steps known as cell cycle
+ Interphase
+ Mitosis
+ Cytokinesis
First step: Interphase
1) The cell grow and more organelles are produced
2) The DNA is copied ( chromatids are made )
3) Structure are made to help the cell divide

Step 2: Mitosis – nucleus divide into 2 nuclei with one set of DNA in each
In the telophase, the chromosomes are at the far ends of the cell and the DNA becomes less
dense. ( the final step of the mitosis )

Final step of the cell cycle:

In the cytokinesis, cytoplasm divides and organelles are distributed between cells.
P/S notice:
+ At the end of the mitosis, how do the number of chromosomes in the daughter cell compare to the
parent cell: Still that number (no larger or smaller)
+ Interphase is the longest phase of the cell cycle
