STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT

CHECKLIST
If you already have a corporate strategic plan and you seek to execute beyond 70% of the strategy, you must align the
operations with the strategy.

Strategic alignment can be overwhelming, and if you do not know where to begin, you will get muddled in the
process. There are quite a few steps that you must follow in a sequential order to ensure alignment for a seamless
execution. You do not want to misalign your strategy or miss any steps in the execution.

Use this checklist to make sure that you do everything to align your organization to ensure an effective strategy
execution. Th descriptions of the steps in the checklist originated from the book Alignment by Robert Kaplan and
David Norton (2006).

Enterprise value proposition.


The corporate office defines strategic guidelines to shape strategies at lower levels of the
organization.

Board and shareholder alignment.


The corporation’s board of directors reviews, approves, and monitors the corporate
strategy.

Corporate office to corporate support unit.


The corporate strategy is translated into those corporate policies that will be
administered by corporate support units.

Corporate office to business units.


The corporate priorities are cascaded into business units.

Business units to support units.


The strategic priorities of business units are incorporated in the strategies of the
functional support units.

Business units to customers.


The priorities of the customer value proposition are communicated to targeted customers
and reflected in specific customer feedback and measures.

Business support units to suppliers and other external partners.


Corporate support.
The shared priorities for suppliers, outsourcers, and alliance partner are reflected in business unit
strategies. and reflected in specific customer feedback and measures.

Corporate support.
The strategies of the local business support units reflect the priorities of the corporate support
unit.

University in Business Administration
Leadership. He has certifications in the
Balanced Scorecard from Palladium
Group, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University, Change Management from
PROSCI, Emotional Intelligence from the Hay Group, Communication from the Wiley
Everything DISC Workplace, and Facilitation from Development Demission International
(DDI). Dr. Wallace also earned his COVID-19 Contract Tracing Certificate from Johns
Hopkins University.
