Answer all the questions in NOT MORE THAN 200 words each. Contents of the answer are
more important than its length. All questions carry equal marks.

1. BIMSTEC is naturally inclined towards regional integration than SAARC which is dominated by
India and Pakistan and hamstrung by tensions between the two. Therefore, BIMSTEC seems an
attractive alternative to SAARC. Discuss.

2. Why is the special 301 report in news frequently? Do you think IPR regime in India is TRIPS non
compliant and will discourage, rather than promote, investment in and dissemination of green
technology innovation?

3. Security Council reform is the most important aspect in building a stronger UN for a better
world. Discuss. In your opinion why India is a rightful candidate for a permanent seat at the high
table of UN Security Council? What are the impediments India is facing in this pursuit?

4. Why India seems reluctant to participate in the multilateral conference on OBOR that China is
planning to organize? Do you think that India’s opposition to OBOR initiative is based on geo-
politics rather than geo-economics?

5. Discuss in brief the broad patterns in which migration is happening form India. In present times
what are the challenges faced by Indian Diaspora and how effective is Indian government in
safeguarding their interests?

6. In light of the recent evacuations undertaken by India in middle east, do you think India’s
evacuation efforts are largely ad hoc? In this context, what are the steps that India should take
to adapt to the growing complexity of these operations?

7. Why the post-Cold War world order is known as “multi polar world order”? In context of the
discussions at the recent Raisina Dialogue held in New Delhi, discuss if India deserves to be and
is ready to be a pole in the multi polar world?

8. BRICS can only succeed if it overcomes its internal dichotomies. Discuss with special reference to
recently concluded BRICS summit in Goa.

9. Enumerate the broad highlights of Amritsar Declaration that was outcome of the recently
concluded Heart of Asia Conference. In this context, critically analyse the evolving relationship
between India and Afghanistan.

10. What is the difference between the two types of visas- H1B and L1- granted by USA to foreign
nationals? Discuss the impact that proposed H1B visa reform in USA on India’s IT and services
sector.
11. Discuss in brief the social, economic, political and strategic interests of India in the Indian Ocean
region. To what extend Indian Ocean Rim Association can help India in realizing the potential of
this region for her benefit?

12. “The broader aims and objectives of WTO are to manage and promote international trade in the
era of globalization. But the Doha round of negotiations seem doomed due to differences
between the developed and the developing countries.” Discuss in the Indian perspective.
