Action Man Trousers

Every good Action Man needs a good pair of pants...

This pattern is worked on 4 double-pointed needles (dpn’s), but can easily be


converted to work on straight needles.

What you need:


Double Knit (8ply/Worsted) yarn
3.25mm needles

How to:
Leg (make 2)
Cast on 14 sts. join taking care not to twist
K1 P1 rib for 4 rows
Continuing in st st., Inc 1 st at beg and end of each 6th round until there are 22 sts
St st 11 rows straight
On 11th row: s1 st over last, cast off 1 st of nxt round [equivalent to cast off 2 sts for crotch]

Break yarn and put all sts on spare needle and place to one side while making second leg

When second leg completed: do not break yarn, put all sts from both legs back on needle,
dividing between 3 needles (40 sts)
*PM, K 20* Rpt one time

Trouser top
K 1 row
Nxt row: *Dec 1 st, K to 2 sts before marker, Dec 1 st * Rpt 1 time (36 sts)
St st 5 rows
Nxt row: *Dec 1 st, K to 2 sts before marker, Dec 1 st * Rpt 1 time (32 sts)
Nxt row: Knit
Rpt last 2 rows once more
K1 P1 rib for 4 rows
Cast off in rib
Abbreviations:
Join trouser along seam, front to back of crotch. Weave in all ends. Abbreviations:
K - Knit
Your Action Man can have his own style to make him your own. P - Purl
He may be in different branches of the Forces, such as: St st - Stocking Stitch
St(s) - Stitch(es)
Army: brown trousers, green/khaki sweater Inc - Increase
Navy: navy blue trousers and sweater Dec - Decrease
Airforce: navy blue trousers, royal/airforce blue sweater PM - Place marker
Marines: black trousers, green/khaki sweater * - Repeat from * to *
Or use your imagination to give him a more relaxed look...
