IDENTIFICATION AND
REGISTRATION MARKING
(R4 – 2009)
SUBPART A.
GENERAL
This part prescribes the requirements for:
a. Identification ofaircraft , and identification ofaircraft
engines andpropellers that are manufactured under
production certificate ;
the terms of a type or
b. Identification ofparts that are manufactured under
the terms of a type orproduction certificate ;
c. Identification of certain replacement andmodified
parts produced for installation ontype certificated
products ; and
d. Nationality and Registration marking ofIndonesian
registered aircraft .
SUBPART B

IDENTIFICATION OF AIRCRAFT
AND RELATED PRODUCTS
A. Aircraft and aircraft engines.
• Part marked on it by etching, stamping,
engraving, or otherapproved method of
fireproof marking.
• The identification plate for aircraftmust be
secured in such a manner that it will not
likely be defaced or removed during normal
service, or lost or destroyed in an accident.
• Except Manned free balloons, must be
secured to the balloon envelope and must
be located, if practicable, where it is legible
to the operator when the balloon is inflated.
• The aircraft identification plate must be
secured to the aircraftfuselage exterior so
that it is legible to a person on the ground,
and must be either adjacent to and aft of
the rearmost entrance door or on the
fuselage surface near the tail surfaces .
• For aircraft engines, the identification plate
must be affixed to the engine at an
accessible location in such a manner that it
will not likely be defaced or removed during
normal service, or lost or destroyed in an
accident.
• Each person who manufactures a propeller,
propeller blade, or propeller hub under the
terms of a type or production certificate
shall identify his product by means of a
plate, stamping, engraving, etching, or other
approved methodfireproof
of identification

• The identification plate of this section may
be secured at anaccessible exterior or
interior location near an entrance , if the
model designation and builder’s serial
number are also displayed on the aircraft
fuselage exterior.
Identification data
1) Builder’s name.
2) Model designation.
3) Builder’s serial number.
4) Type certificate number, if any.
5) Production certificate number, if any.
6) For aircraft engines, the established rating.
7) For aircraft engines specified the date of
manufacture as defined of that Part, and a
designation,approved by the DGCA
8) Any otherinformation the DGCA finds appropriate.
• No person mayremove, change , or place
identification information required by
paragraph a. of this section, on any aircraft,
aircraft engine, propeller, propeller blade,
or propeller hub, without the approval of
the DGCA.
• No person mayremove or install any
identification plate required by Section
45.11 of this Part, without the approval of
the DGCA.
• Persons performing work under the
provisions of Part 43 of the CASRs may, in
accordance with methods, techniques,
acceptable to the DGCA.

• No person may install an identification
plate removed in accordance with during
maintenance operation on any aircraft,
aircraft engine, propeller, propeller blade,
or propeller hub other than the one from
which it was removed.
Identification of critical components
• Each person who produces a part for which
a replacement time, inspection interval, or
related procedure is specified in the
Airworthiness Limitations section of a
manufacture’s maintenance manual or
Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
shall permanently and legibly mark that
component with a part number (or
equivalent) and a serial number (or
equivalent).
SUBPART C. NATIONALITY AND
REGISTRATION MARKS
a. Except as provided inExhibition, antique, and other
aircraft, no person may operate an Indonesian registered
aircraft unless thataircraft displays identification marks
in accordance with the requirements of this section.
b. Unless otherwise authorized by the DGCA, no person
may place on any aircraft a design, mark, or symbol that
modifies orconfuses the nationality and Registration
Marks.
c. The name of an aircraft and the name and emblems of
the owner of an aircraft may bedisplayed on the aircraft
if the location, size, shape and color of the lettering and
signs does not interfere with the easy recognition of and
is not causing confusion with the identification marks of
the aircraft.
d. Aircraft nationality and Registration Marks
must :
1) Except as provided in paragraph d. of
this section, bepainted on the aircraft or
affixed by any other means insuring a
similar degree of permanence ;
2) Haveno ornamentation;
3)Contrast in color with the background;
and
4) Be legible.
E. Theaircraft nationality andRegistration
Marks may be affixed to an aircraft with
readily removable material if :
1) It is intended for immediatedelivery to
a foreign purchaser ;
2) It is bearinga temporary registration
number; or
3) It is markedtemporarily to meet the
requirements of this part.
Assignment of identification marks

a. Identification marks The identification


marks of an aircraft registered under this

shall precede the Registration marks and

b. Nationality marks The Nationality Marks
shall be theletter PK.
c. Registration Marks
1) The Registration Marks shall be assigned
bythe DGCA , and shall consist ofthree
letters.
2) Combination of letters designed for the
Registration Marks shallnot be used which
might be confused with the five-letter
combinations used in the International
Code of Signals. Part II, the three letter
combinations beginning with Q used in the
Q-code, and with the distress signal SOS or
other similar urgency signals, XXX.
e.g. PAN
and TTT .
Display of marks: General
a. The nationality and Registration Marks shall
be inRoman capital letter.
b. When marks that include only the Roman
capital letters “ PK” and the registration
letters are displayed on limited, restricted or
light-sport category aircraft or provisionally
certificated aircraft, the operator shall also
near each entrance to

Display of Indonesia Nationality Flag
a. Aircraft, helicopter, airships, spherical
balloons, non-spherical balloons, powered
parachutes, and weight-shift-control aircraft
have an Indonesia nationality and registration
marks shalldisplay Indonesia nationality flag .
b. The nationality flag shall appear on any
surface of fuselage exterior orvertical
stabilizer that is eligible to a person on the
ground.
c. The height of nationality flag shall be atleast
30 centimeter (12 inches) and the width shall
be3/2 of the height
Location of marks on fixed wing
aircraft
a. The marks on fixed wing aircraft shall be displayed
as prescribed of this section on the wings and either
on the fuselage or on the vertical tail surface(s).
b. The marks shall appear once on the upper surface
of the wing structure and once on the lower surface
of the wing structure. They shall be locatedon the
half of the upper surface and
right on the left half of
the lower surface of the wing structure unless they
extend across the whole of both the upper and the
lower surfaces of the wing structure. So far as
possible the marks shall be located equidistant from
the leading and trailing edges of the wings. The tops
of the marks shall be toward the leading edge of the
wing.
c. The marks shall appear on each side of
the fuselage (or equivalent structure)
between the wings and the tail surface.
Or on the upper halves of the vertical tail
surfaces.
When located on singlevertical tail
surface they shall appear on both sides.
When located on multi-vertical tail
surfaces they shall appear onthe
outboard sides of the outer surfaces .
Type and size of marks
A. General:

1) The letters shall be capital letters inRoman characters


without ornamentation .Numbers (if used) shall be Arabic
numbers without ornamentation.
2) The width of each character (except the letter I and the
number 1) and the length of the hyphen, shall betwo-thirds of
theheight of a character.
3) The characters and hyphens shall be formed by solid lines and
shall be of a color contrasting clearly with the background. The
thickness of the lines shall beone-sixth of the height of a
character.
4) Each character shall be separated from that which it
immediately precedes or follows bya space of not less than
one-quarter of a character width. A hyphen shall be regarded
as a character for this purpose.
5) The characters in each separate group of marks shall be of
equal height.
B. Fixed wing aircraft:
1) The height of the identification marks on the
wings shall be at least 50 centimeters 20 (
inches ).
2) The marks on the fuselage (or equivalent
structure) or vertical tail surfaces shall be as
large as practicable, but shall not interfere with
the visible outlines of the fuselage (or equivalent
structure ) and shall leave at least a margin of 5
centimeters2 inches
( ) along each edge of any
vertical tail surface.
3) The height of marks on the fuselage or vertical
tail surfaces shall be at least 30 centimeters 12(
inches ).
Additional marking requirement
• an aircraft shall carry anidentification plate
inscribed with itsNationality Marks and
Registration Marks and such other details
as the DGCA requires from time to time, in
accordance with the ICAO Convention.
• The plate shall be made of fireproof metal
orother fireproof material of suitable
physical properties and shall be secured to
near the
the aircraft in a prominent position
main entrance .
Marking of export aircraft
• A person who manufactures an aircraft in
Indonesia for delivery outside there of may
marks required
display on that aircraft any
by the state of registry of the aircraft .
• However, no person may operate an
aircraft so marked within Indonesia,
except for test and demonstration flights
for a limited period of time, or while in
necessary transit to the purchaser.
Sale of aircraft: Removal of marks
• When an aircraft that is registered in
Indonesia is sold, the holder of the
Certificate of Aircraft Registration shall
remove, before its delivery to the purchaser,
all Indonesian marks from the aircraft,
unless the purchaser is :
a.A citizen of Indonesia ;
b. When the aircraft is to be based and
primarily used in Indonesia , a corporation
lawfully organized and doing business
under thelaws of Indonesia .
