THE LIVING MACHINES
By Daric Gill
The Living Machines is a series of interactive robotic installations that
mimic the emotional nuances of living organisms through light, motion,
&/or sound. Complex characteristics like excitement, extraversion,
shyness, persistence, the ability to dream, etc., are the delicate
interactions that make up how animals behave, not just how they
physically move around.
Using a broader perspective of biomimicry, this work doesn’t seek to
simply imitate the physical form, articulations, or dexterity-of-motion
for industrial gain. The goal is to fascinate, engage, inspire,
& reflect on our own social or emotional significances using interactive
feedback. These machines are explorations into the remarkable world
of emotional intelligence.
Combining interests in engineering, science, technology, & art, The
Living Machines are truly an interdisciplinary endeavor. Investigating
the more intimate characters of life (like personality) is something
that persists throughout all of my work. As my understanding of new
technology becomes stronger, so too does the reflective possibilities of
this series.

Leila Antakly discovered the work of Mario
Rodriguez, an incredible artist born in
Mexico City, raised in Medellin, Colombia,
and currently based in Barcelona.
His work tributes the power and beauty of
nature in its most raw forms, reminding
us of the Earth's surface, volcanic rock,
glass, different textures, and the complex
interplay between their light and shadows.

in spaces of creation, clay, casts, paintings, fabrics.
I started to create very early and was rolled in different
academies. Then I got a bachelor's degree in Architecture

hi- Yu Lin (b. 1965) is a Taiwan-
based artist; he creates unique art
in a special technique to highlight
environmental issues. Lin has
developed the Chopped Weave Method for
his painting, using brushes, scrapers, and
knives. In his work, he is trying to pass his
essential message:
Render the consumption of 'Deduction'
and the regeneration of 'Increase' by
accumulating piles of paint and scraping off
and erasing.
Express the importance of cherishing
nature, deliver the message with artistic
creation. The object will be simplified to
break up by taking deconstruction; re-
combined the scattered objects by taking
structuralism. Just like weaving, express
the texture of the concept.

nder Sea Water - Journeys to A World
of Beauty and Peace

Last year's pandemic and

resulting quarantines have
profoundly affected the ways
we live, see, and experience our
surroundings. People have grown
worried about the future, and
sadness and depression prevail.
In response to all the negativity,
I have chosen to create paintings
from my imagination and recall
the times I spent relaxing on the
beach and diving freely beneath
the warm sea waters. Rich with
lush, vibrant underwater life
swaying gracefully to the rhythms
of soft, gentle currents and lit
by sunlight from above, my
art transports me to realms of
incredible beauty, calm, and bliss.

and art lovers.
At 61, she knew what she wanted to do with her life.
In Lowe Mill, Huntsville, Alabama, she took art classes in
Chuck Mathews studio. By the time she finished classes,
she knew that her area of expertise was painting.
Her work was selected to be in many art exhibitions,
including MAMAG Modern Art Museum, and was
awarded several certificates of Honorable Mention and
Artistic Excellence, including Art Olympia, Tokyo, Japan.
Her paintings featured in a wide range of subjects such
as the magazine “Art is Spectrum,” “Artavita,” “Circle,”
a website of Art Olympia, Tokyo Japan, and much more.
Her favorite element to experiment with is color and
texture. She enjoys seeing how a colorful painting can
add brightness to any room. The most rewarding part
of being an artist is reading comments on her website,
which she gets from viewers and buyers because then
she knows her Art touches them most positively.
