The black cat by Edgar Alan Poe

The black cat is a horror short story. It is told from the perspective of the main
character, an insane narrator, who does not expect the reader to believe him. He also
tells us that he is going to die the following day, but not the reason why.
On one hand, this story let us know the narrator's mental deterioration as a
consequence of a shocking event. On the other hand, we can notice, as the story
progresses, that he recognizes his behaviour change of getting angry at everyone and
mistreats his wife and pets. Until trying to do something about it, but he finds himself
unable to reverse his falling into madness.
To sum up, the story switches between the narrator's transformation, from a nice man
who loves her wife and pets to an insane person; and his obsession with an unusual
cat. In addition, this story shows us the inherent evil version of a person, in this case,
the narrator; and why anybody cannot escape from guilt.
It seems to be a boring story, but in the end, it turns out to be an amazing thriller
narration that will surprise you. In that way, if you enjoy reading horror or mystery
stories, without any doubt I recommend reading this book, you will love it.
