VIRTUAL DIVISION JOURNALISM CONTEST

COMPETITION 2021

I. RATIONALE

Academic Year 2021-2022 commenced at DCPAPSPA on October 22,

2021. As an institution, it aims to developed the knowledge of every students
in different category.
Sto. Niño De Praga Academy as being a competitive institution joins in
different competition in terms academics and non-academics. Last November
16-17, the school itself had its first ever virtual Journalism Competition which
aims is to develop the skills of the students in writing and to equip them for
the upcoming Division Journalism Contest in news writing, feature writing,
editorial writing/cartooning, sports writing, copy reading and headline writing,
science and health writing and photojournalism.

II. VIRTUAL DIVISION JOURNALISM CONTEST OF DCPAPSPA

The competition was facilitated by Jonathan Son P. Aceron to be followed

the National Anthem led by Holy Nazarene Christian School. Next, prayer led
by Vanese Joyce L. Viana and welcome remarks led by Teodora F. Nazareno
PhD. Jeofrey D. Capili PhD was say and give message to the contestant per
category. Kimberly Galicia was give the guidelines per category. These
lecturers and facilitators dedicated their time and effort for the improvement of
the skills of the young journalists for the different category.
Mr. Edryne Amon is the lecturer and facilitator for Science and Health
News Writing, Mr. Patrick Coquilla for news writing, Ms.Vanessa Maraville for
Feature Writing, Mr. Domingo Cuerto for Copy Reading, Lelibeth Poblete for
Sports Writing, Marlon Brian for photojournalism and Sheilaver Mangune for
Editorial Cartooning.
On day of contest, that is October 22, the VIRTUAL DIVISION
JOURNALISM CONTEST was intended for Elementary and High School.
Before the seminar proper there was an orientation happened wherein all the
participants are informed about the flow of the said activity. At the same time,
the lecturers/facilitators is being introduced by DCPAPSPA. After the
orientation, the contest started at 10:00 AM through the use of Google meet.
The lecturers/facilitators taught the tips and shared all the knowledge they
have on the different categories that I had mentioned.
At 12:00-1:00 the participants per category had their lunch break then,
they joined again to the code of the assigned lecturer/facilitator of their
chosen category for the competition wherein it started at 1:00-3:00 PM. The
young journalists are expected to perform their best through the guidance of
the lecturers/facilitators and through the motivation. Every participant output
must be directly sent on the group created by the facilitators for checking. And
lastly, for the announcement of the winners per category to be announce in
the respective group per category.
