CASE STUDY
reflective essay

The wizard of OZ was a favorite children’s story which also an in-depth commentary on
the battle for free silver in the 1890s. The story was all about the cyclone that carried
Dorothy to the Land of Oz represents the economic and political upheaval, the yellow
brick road stands for the gold standard, and the silver shoes Dorothy inherits from the
Wicked.
In a 1964 article, educator and historian Henry Littlefield outlined an allegory in the book
of the late-19th-century debate regarding monetary policy. According to this view, for
instance, the Yellow Brick Road represents the gold standard, and the Silver
Shoes represent the Silverite sixteen to one silver ratio. The City of Oz earns its name
from the abbreviation of ounces "Oz" in which gold and silver are measured.
In regards of our case study, we have composed the following objectives/problem; to
provide helpful solutions that can enlighten people and avoid such bad situation, to have
a balance and to maintain the general prices of goods and solving a situation without
inflation, and to be able to grasp and understand the steps to have a healthy economy
that everyone will agree. This are what we come up in our mind as we read the novel of
the wizard of OZ. In our case study, it was mentioned that Bryan wanted to use silver
back to dollar in United States. It was hard to the farmer since it was easier to have
debts.
