1. Consider the mass-spring-damper system given in the below figure. (2m)

Taking k=2, c=0 and m=1, a force F of 1 newton for 1 second and then is off for 1 second and so
on, given by the function

Obtain the steady periodic solution for the displacement x(t) using Fourier series approach.

2. Obtain the solution for the heat equation given by Ut = 0.4Uxx with initial conditions (2m)
U(0,t) = U(1,t) = 0, and
U(x,0) = 0.1sin(πt) + sin(2πt)
using Fourier series approach.

3. Obtain the solution for the wave equation given by 𝒚𝒕𝒕 = 3𝒚𝒙𝒙 with initial conditions (2m)
y(0,t) = y(π,t) = 0,
y(x,0) = x for 0 < x < π,
yt(x,0) = 0 for 0 < x < π.
4. Consider a semi-infinite insulated bar which is initially at a constant temperature, then the end x=0
is held at zero temperature. (2m)

Solve the diffusion equation

using Laplace Transform method subject to the initial and boundary conditions (take c =2, To=100),
