Rabbit Chase

A bike man had kept her standing under the sun while searching for her balance, she needed to
meet with the impatient client who had a job for her. Flora is a creative interior decorator who has
been in the business for nearly four years. She studied the practice remotely for two years with
the Royal Institution of Art (RIA) and engaged with a credible company for more than one year.
She currently operates from her own office which she got four months ago, and this is her first
promising client. The bike man finally came with the balance, and she took it in a haste without
confirming the money.

This was the client’s office location, and she needed to join him to the house where the job will be
carried out. Fred was standing by his car when he heard a subtle voice telling to the security
guard that she came to see him. He immediately told the guard to let her in, and told Flora to get
into his car since their appointment was already far spent. She started out with describing
contemporary living space decorations to Fred as he drove to the house. He only made head
gestures to make her feel he was following her descriptions. As they arrived at the house, she
realized that the neighbourhood would have to influence the style of this particular job.

The moment they stepped into the living room of the house, Flora felt a rush of ideas on things to
do to the space. The smile on her face came from the final picture of the job in her head. Fred had
a picture of what he would like the space to become; he forwarded a copy to her, and asked her
to confirm that she could handle the job. She replied positively and requested to see the other
rooms; they all had walk-in closets. The room at the penthouse had a Jacuzzi, the house had a
cinema room, a gymnasium and an indoor swimming pool. She went ahead to see the kitchen so
that she could include it in the plan. She requested a spare key as they both left the house back
to the car; she needed to revisit for dimensions and schematics designs.

Fred requested that she joined him for lunch before he goes back to work, and she was obliged to
tag along. He was really acting gentle enough to make her imply things that would be odd to a
business interaction, but she kept up with being professional. At the table where they ate lunch,
Fred initiated a conversation by asking Flora what her hobbies are, and what she does for leisure.
She replied with direct answers and no explanations; he could notice her stiff neck, so he simply
signaled a waiter. Fred offered to drop her at her office while they were leaving the restaurant, and
said it would be rude to refuse the offer. She agreed and they both arrived at her office in no time;
while still sitting in his car, they addressed a few matters concerning the job.

In the second month, Flora has done so much work on the project and the progress was very
good; Fred had already made complete payments at this stage. Her work was very impressive. On
the other hand, her leisure time was getting snatched by Fred as he gave her a getaway treat
every weekend since the third week on the project. Flora knew how to keep the line between work
and pleasure clearly drawn, so she was not distracted by his advances. She was really catch his
feelings; that is one obvious thing. She still had so much to figure out about Fred, but business
must be concluded first.

On one of the days at project site, a Bentley Bentayga drove into the compound. A lady came
down from the rear seat with a large custom art painting while the driver left with the car. She
introduced herself as Helen; she instructed Flora to position the painting at the best spot in the
living room upstairs. Out of slight curiosity, Flora asked if she was an artwork dealer; Helen replied
that she was Fred’s girlfriend. They both talked at length and Flora learnt that Helen owns the
house; she took Flora to the living room upstairs to show her where she would prefer the artwork
to be placed. Fred drove into the compound to see Flora and the progress with work; he brought
lunch. He did not see Flora downstairs, so he kept the package which had a note; then went to
ease himself.

Helen came downstairs to meet a package that was not there earlier; Flora was still occupied with
the painting upstairs. Helen saw the note that read “To Fill You With Love”, and Fred’s car was
parked outside. She simply went back upstairs to meet Flora without mentioning what she had
seen. Fred finished easing himself, and called out to Flora saying that he brought lunch; this time
around, both Flora and Helen came downstairs to meet Fred. He did not expect to see Helen
there, so he tried to remove the note with from the lunch package. Helen smiled and said she had
already seen it; she yelled at Flora to leave the site immediately and called her driver to come and
pick her up. Fred was left standing there in a shocking confusion as he was still realizing that he
had lost out on both women.

Regrets filled Fred’s thoughts as the words “If a man runs after two rabbits at the same time, he
will catch none” kept ringing in his head.
