Hungary is a popular tourist destination for several reasons:
1) To visit cultural attractions like Budapest's Fisherman's Bastion and House of Terror, the Lake Balaton region, and historic towns and castles.
2) For education purposes, through university exchange programs or language learning.
3) For work, as salaries are higher than neighboring Eastern European countries.
4) Shopping, as prices are often lower than Western European countries.
Since 2005, Hungary has pursued a national tourism strategy focused on developing conference tourism, promoting natural attractions and cultural traditions, and expanding health and wellness centers, which have increased visitor spending and length of stays. - to visit Hungarian sights, festivals, the Lake Balaton, spas, etc. - to learn Hungarian (with exchange program or switch universities or be sent by your company) - to work (people come here mostly from the east because the salaries are higher) - to shop for smaller prices ( in spite of the crisis we have got much cheaper products than the most countries) - to move here (for mostly these reasons)

The perspectives of tourism:
Since 2005 there has been a constant tourism - developing strategy supported by the state in order to ensure our country’s significant position among the most popular European destinations. The strategy is aimed at three main points: firstly, Hungary as a destination of summits/conferences, secondly, the focus on the national heritage containing the natural beauties and the cultural traditions as well, and at last the health- tourism. What I would like to put an emphasis on is the continuous development of the regional health centers including their widening offers. As the latest surveys show, the amount of money the tourist spend in Hungary is growing year by year as well as the number of nights they spend here, mostly due to their previous experiences. Moreover, because of the aging societies of the surrounding countries there will always be a constant demand for any offers of these centers.
The perspectives of economy:
Among the countries of the European Union the competitiveness of every Central- and East- European country is worsening due to different factors such as the aging society, the decreasing proportion of professionals. The recovery of economy has been noticed for some years as much foreign capital has been invested. Hungary was proved to be a country where it’s worth to bring money in because of the low taxes and low wage cost. Recent surveys has found out that the productivity is decreasing, the number of pensioners is growing while the developments are not enough, even there are less and less professionals whose number will decrease by 50 % in the following decades The only exception is the central part of the country.
