Exercise 8: Self-reflection: From what we have discussed above, what do you think are the knowledge,

skills and attitudes that you would like to develop in yourself, in your family and in your community in
order to achieve peace? Write at least one (1) knowledge, skill and attitude for self, family and
community and discuss why.

In order to achieve peace, I would like to develop my holistic concept of peace for myself to fully have
the broad knowledge about it and how it would be shared properly with my family and to the
community. My Critical Thinking and Analysis skills also needs to develop to reduce unfair prejudices on
different circumstances and easily recognize what is right from wrong through in depth investigation.
Strengthen my Self-respect as an attitude to develop in order to achieve peace to have a solid sense of
goodness and power to influence a positive change in my environment.

For my family, I would like to widen our knowledge on conflict and violence to properly distinguish the
differentiation of the two and how are we able to respond if these would happen in our family. Our
decision-making skills needs a little development because sometimes we make decisions for ourselves
without considering its impact on the people around us specifically to our family that might cause
conflict and misunderstanding. Sometimes, we tend to do things differently from what we’ve planned to
do so despite the fact that the consequences were not faced by only one person but with the whole
family. So, that is why cooperation with each other is the attitude that each family member would have
and develop.

Lastly, the community should develop and strengthen their Human Solidarity that would easily accept
ones differences and increase inter-cultural trust that would lead us to a peaceful living within and
outside the four corners of our homes. Developing the Communication skills of each member of the
society will gives us a clear vision to what we should do next to achieve peace. If everyone in the
community recognizes their social responsibility, then it is so easy for us to achieve peace and
sustainable development within our community. Learning, developing and application of these
knowledge, skills and attitudes would lead us to a more productive way of living without violence.
