Airworthiness Directives; Airbus Defense and Space S.A.

(Formerly Known as Constructions Aeronauticas, S.A.) Airplanes

Reason This AD was prompted by a report of cracks on the left-hand (LH) and right-
hand (RH) side fuselage skin and on frame (FR) 5 underneath the skin, near the leading
edge of the wing. The FAA is issuing this AD to address cracks on the LH and RH side
fuselage skin and on FR 5 underneath the skin, near the leading edge of the wing, which
could affect the structural integrity of the airplane

DATES: This AD is effective September 28, 2021. The Director of the Federal
Register approved the incorporation by reference of a certain publication listed in this
AD as of September 28, 2021.

(c) Applicability This AD applies to Airbus Defense and Space S.A.


(formerly known as Construcciones Aeronauticas, S.A.) Model C-
212-CB, C-212-CC, C-212-CD, C-212-CE, C-212-CF, C-212-DE, and
C-212-DF airplanes, certificated in any category, as identified in
European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD 2020-0182,
dated August 13, 2020 (EASA AD 2020-0182).

Subject Air Transport Association (ATA) of America Code 53, Fuselage.

Effective Date This airworthiness directive (AD) is effective September 28, 2021.
Requirements Except as specified in paragraph (h)
of this AD: Comply with all required actions and
compliance times specified in, and in accordance
with, EASA AD 2020-0182.
The FAA reviewed the relevant data, considered
the comment received, and determined that air
safety and the public interest require adopting
this final rule as proposed, except for minor
editorial changes. The FAA has determined that
these minor changes: • Are consistent with the
intent that was proposed in the NPRM for
addressing the unsafe condition; and • Do not
add any additional burden upon the public than
was already proposed in the NPRM.
