DAY 1 PM WEBINAR (SHS QUALITY ASSURANCE)

 POLL FIRST ABOUT SHS and JHS Certification and the use of Certification Assessment
Instrument
Order of Presentation
1. Context
What objectives, factors and background information were considered prior to the design of the
SHS CAI?
2. Process
What framework was used to design the SHS CAI? How were standards identified and stated?
3. Content
What are the parts of the SHS CAI? What do all parts have? What is the system of rating?

OBJECTIVES OF DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING 2020 PEAC SHS CAI:

 Provide a tool for quality assurance in the private school’s delivery of the SHS program
 Ensure continuity of quality of instruction and support services in two-level schools (i.e., JHS to
SHS)
 Assist private schools in school improvement planning and upgrading of its instruction and support
services
SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS:
Discourse levels of Practice: SHS administrators describe their implementation practices in 4 ways:
CONTIGENT: the SHS Administrators’ comments narrate school efforts to accomplish all requirements
of DepEd Orders and Memos;
COMPLIANT: the SHS administrators’ comments narrate school efforts to accomplish all requirements
of Deped Orders and Memosthe manner of accomplishment does not involve any modification,
enhancement, integration or contextualization.
INTEGRALLY COMPLIANT: the school is able to accomplish all requirements of DepEd Orders and
Memos and provided enhancements through integration, innovation or contextualization. Integration
involves connecting area sub-components with each other or interfacing one area with another or with
certain tertiary requirements. Innovation means doing integration in a new way. Contextualization
consists of a aligning programs of processes with the school’s vision and mission and pedagogical
framework or with industry immersion partners or undertaking interventions to achieve a specific quality.
STRATEGIC: In addition to accomplishing all requirements of DepEd Orders and Memos, the SHS
Administrators link the accomplishment with an end goal of becoming self-sustaining either through
establishing long-term programs or policies, institutionalization of units, practices or processes, or
extensive articulation and partnerships with tertiary programs and industry immersion partners.
Administrators talk about initiating or generating new systems and process to ensure the sustainability of
the program (e.g., forming new partnerships with local agencies) as well as introducing innovations that
take program requirements to a higher level.
