A Study on Recruitment and Selection Process

Recruitment plays a vital role with regards to the organization’s human resource planning and their
competitive strength. It’s very purpose is to identify suitable man power to meet the job requirements and
it acts as link between the employers and the job seekers. Its process involves a systematic procedure from
sourcing the candidates to arranging and conducting the interviews and requires many resources and time
and every organization has the option of choosing the candidates for its recruitment processes from two
kinds of sources: internal and external sources.

Selection on the other hand determines whether the prospective candidate possesses the qualification for
the specific job, it gives great emphasis on the optimal match between the person and the occupation. It
excludes unsuitable candidates and selects the best personnel. The selection process is complex and a
lengthy as it involves several stages than an individual has to qualify before getting finally selected for the
job. Frequently educational qualification, technical skills and achievements are used as the basis for
selection.

The study reveals that the recruitment and selection process offered in three selected industries is effective.
The selection is done by evaluating the candidate’s skills, knowledge and abilities which are highly required
to the vacancies in selected industries.

I personally believe that everything from the timing to job descriptions, interview processes and final
selection must be intentional and should carefully laid out. To find the best possible candidate, it is
important to allow enough time and money for hiring so that the employer would not be stressed or be
in a rush, and I do agree that for the selection process to remain dynamic and purposive, organizations
need to continually focus their attention and understand the chemistry between people and jobs because
recruitment and selection is not a matter of a temporary fix to an organization in instances of vacancy,
rather, it is a matter of sustainability and deep-rootedness.
