EASTERN SHIPBUILDING STORAGE FACILITY
The project includes the construction of an approximately 24° x 24” pole bam and 24° x 48° pole bam including
concrete foundations at the Eastern Shipbuilding Yard located at 432 Howard Road in Port St. Joe, FL.
Completion date for this project will be 180 days from the date of the Notice to Proceed presented to the successful
bidder. Liquidated damages for failure to complete the project on the specified date will be $500.00 per day.

Reporting Period: October 20, 2021 - November 15, 2021
Administrative/Statewide Update: Dr. Andra Johnson, Associate Director of Penn State
Extension, was announced as the new Dean of UF/IFAS Extension and Director of the Florida
Cooperative Extension Service. Dr. Johnson assumed the role on November 1%. He plans to
visit every county office in the state in the coming months. In January, UF/IFAS Extension will
roll out a new electronic sign-in system at each county office for both office visits and
educational outreach event registration. This system will capture clientele demographic and
interest data for use in both state and federal reporting under USDA-NIFA guidelines.
Extension Activities
During this period of the year, both Extension Agents are attending many planning meetings
across the District, concerning specific Extension activities offered in 2022, regarding both
county and multi-county programing efforts. During this reporting period, Extension assisted
citizens on a variety of topics such as, soil analysis, fall garden and turfgrass management,
weed identification, controlling invasive species, cool season forage variety selection,
Pesticide license training, 4-H program opportunities, and more.
Spotlight: The Master Gardener Program Volunteers continue to make a great educational
impact on our county by planning, implementing, and assisting in the maintenance of native
plant/pollinator demonstration gardens at both library and Extension office locations; providing
educational outreach at many “Ask a Master Gardener’ events; and in developing a seed
library in connection with the Port St. Joe Garden Club. The Master Gardeners are also
assisting with plant selection and design of the Salinas Park Gulf Side Renovation Project,
University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences
