Answer:
1. speech act is an utterance that has performative function in language and communication, this is
including real-life interactions which require not only knowledge of the language but also
appropriate use of language. Or it is an action performed when in saying something.

2. According to J.L. Austin there are three types of speech act:


- Locutionary act
- Illocutionary act
- perloculationary act

3. - Locutionary act is the actual act of uttering also known as locution or an utterance act, where
something is said or sound is made and which may not have any meening, and propositional acts,
where a particular reference is made, the act of saying something in full normal sense.
- Illocutionary act is an act performed of saying something with a specific intention its either by
asking, answering, promissing, etc.
- perloculationary act is an act performed by or as a result of saying someting it happens when that
the speaker says has an effect on the listener.

4. - Locutionary act:
He said to me: shoot her! Meaning by “shoot” shoot and referring by “her” to her.
- Illocutionary act:
“go, do your homework!” this utterance is giving order.
- perloculationary act:
“I believe you can do it! (inspiring)
