    March 30, 2018 ‘To Whom It May Concern: Please accept this letter as my recommendation for Ms. McKenzie Sigle for a position as an educator in yaur school district. | served as her KU University Supervisor for two semesters; during her short block of student teaching in primary, and the ragular internship in intermediate. McKenzie has shown great growth in all areas of teaching. While both sessions of student teaching had its own set of challenges, | believe that MoKenzie grew the most in her 4th grade classroom. During this semesier, McKenzie has been called upon to be “the” teacher due to the lack of support from and family issues connected with her clinical supervisor. | must say, ‘MeKenzie has been more than professional through the entire semester. MoKenzie has developed a very specific student management system for her 4th graders. She has worked to motivate students in the class to rise to her level of expectations, while holding them accountable for their behaviors. She has also worked to improve the processes and procedures within an unstructured learning environment. | am most proud of how professional McKenzie has been in each and every meeting and observation. She has successfully begun classroom management strategies with students who did not have structure - a difficult task in the least. | remember a refiective journal article she wrote, as well as a conversation we had Where she was concerned that her etforts were not going to be kept consistent and have the same follow-through once she was out of the classroom. This is a true testament to her love of teaching, and especially hor caring deeply for the success of her students. Ihave observed McKenzie being positive, happy, upbeat, energetic and patient during both semesters of pre-teacher work. | find her to be a person who can connect with any group of staff and students in an effective, positive manner. She is very deliberate in her approach to planning lessons, and implementing those plans for the students. She paces the lessons very well, asks students about their understanding, and circulates the room to check in with all students to ensure they are engaged and on track to learn. Her mentor teacher sent me an email recently stating that he was not a “positive influence” for McKenzie due to the outside factors in his fe. However, he mentioned how much the rest of the grade level team appreciated her input and leadership in ath grade. ‘Without a doubt, | know that McKenzie will be a great asset to any classroom in which she is, selected to serve. She has been tested by “fire” and come out the other side a much better ‘educator than most student teachers I have observed.
