"Healing Hand: A Nurse's Spiritual Task and Responsibility"

How do you define spiritual healing? Do you believe that nurses are capable of healing clients / patients
of all ages? Why? How?

A somewhat common definition of spiritual healing is that it focuses on healing

the spirit or soul itself. Spiritual healing can be defined as the use of spiritual
practices such as prayer and meditation to cure or improve one's illness. In a
way, spiritual healing is analogous to physical healing. When we are
physically not at our best, we are prone to fall sick. Likewise, when we are
spiritually not at our best, we are also prone to fall ill. While Medications help
one get healthier in the physical sense, Spiritual healing plays a vital role in
one's health because opening up and overcoming obstacles that appear in
one way rather than containing them is an excellent way to begin a healthy
spiritual life. I believe that nurses are capable of healing clients/patients of all
ages physically, mentally and spiritually. Physically because they can take
care of their sick patients until they get better. Mentally because they can
comfort their patients that are worried or sad regarding their sickness. They
also listen to the problems of their patient, which could help the patient get
well. Spiritually because they could pray for the well-being of their patient or
help their patient with their obstacles. The central role of a nurse is to promote
and care for patients and assist them through health and illness of all ages.
