Composite Provider Creation

Composite Providers are used to merge multiple Info-Providers using union or join
operations and makes the data available for reporting and analysis. Composite Provider
forms the Virtual Data Mart layer on the BW on HANA system.

The Composite Provider is used for:

• Interface for reporting objects

• Merging providers with analytic indexes
• Alternative to Info-sets for joining data
• Alternative to Multi-Provider to union data

Step 1 Right-click on your own InfoArea -> New -> Composite Provider as shown in the image below.
Step 2 A new screen appears, enter the technical name and description and click ‘Next’.
Technical Name should be XF_CPXX_01. Replace XX with your own group number.

Step 3 In the next screen, click ‘Add’ in the Union Providers tab.
Step 4 Then enter the Advanced Datastore Object that we created earlier and click ‘ok’.

Step 5 In the following screen, you will see that the Advanced Data Store Object that we
selected has been added, then click ‘Finish’.
The following image shows the General tab of the Composite Provider.

Step 6 Next we move to the ‘Scenario’ tab.

Double-click on the Union function, which displays the ‘Source’ tab. Double-click on the
Advanced Datastore Object that is highlighted.

This displays all the Dimensions that we created earlier.

Step 5 Next we will drag and drop all the attributes from the ’Source’ tab to the ‘Target’ tab.
Step 6 Activate the Composite Provider.

Including Navigation Attributes in the Composite Provider

Step 1 In the ‘Output’ tab, we will add all the Navigation Attributes.
Right- click on the target attribute and in the drop down select ‘Navigation Attributes’
Step 2 A new screen appears, we need to check the highlighted boxes and then click ‘OK’.

Step 3 Once the Navigation Attributes are included, you can view the same in the ‘Output’ tab.

Activate the Composite Provider.
