Businesses have long collected and milked various types
of data (information) to take a host of decisions and
achieve a wide range of business enhancing objectives.
However, most of this data traditionally rested in silos
within cicepsfunctions, who leveraged it for
operational decision-making. With the rise of computing
power and statistical software in the last 3 decades,
businesses began to consolidate and integrate large
amounts of data that was traditionally distributed
across the organization. This has led to a profusion of
approaches to collect and harvest business data and
analyze the data, using a wide range of methods.
