How I understand Discourse analysis

Discourse analysis is the analysis of anything beyond a sentence or a clause, an


approach to the analyzing written, spoken. Discourse analysis has been taken up in
a variety of disciplines. Discourse analysis involves interrogation of the data. For
example, I came to old people sitting room. I can’t understand their topic
immediately. But soon, after some time, I start understand them. Thoughts are
dialog inside a person, i.e talking with ourselves after retire social environment,
like continue. Discourse is a way of conversation, speech. Discourse gives
meaning to text. Discourse analysis analyses a text. We have our own discourse.
The objects of discourse analysis discourse, writing, talk, conversation,
communicative event and etc. Discourse analysis is not just one approach, but a
series of interdisciplinary approaches that can be used to explore many different
social domains in many different types of studies. Discourse analysts study larger
chunks of language as they flow together. Some discourse analysts consider the
larger discourse context in order to understand how it affects the meaning of the
sentence. Discourse analysis looks at conversations in their social context. It can be
used by businesses, academic researchers, or the government—any person or
organization that wants to better understand an aspect of communication.
