1. Android 4.4 KitKat

2. Basic Key Features

a. Better Memory Management- This android version is optimized for devices equipped with as

little as 512 MB of RAM. In addition, this memory enhancement results to smoother multi-

tasking.

b. Improved Google Now- By merely saying "OK Google," you may now launch Google Now.

Also, the contextual cards feature has been improved as well. Because of that, based on your

location, favorite sites, or TV shows, Google Now could try to forecast what information you

need. Furthermore, Android 4.4 includes a new app-linking function that allows Google Search to

deep-link search results to apps installed on the user's device.

c. Hangouts App Upgraded- With KitKat, the previous Android message app is no longer

available. It was replaced by Google Hangouts which covers both SMS and MMS, with an

upgrade in terms of video and audio calling.

d. Smarter Caller ID- It is now possible to search a business' contact information in Google

Maps using the dialer's search box. Also, the Google Maps data is used by the phone app's caller

ID to detect any unusual numbers by comparing to other business. Lastly, the basic Android

phone app is redesigned and now prioritize contacts based on how frequently you communicate

with them.

e. Immersive Mode- It includes a new mode wherein the user is allowed to hide all besides the

app he/she is using. And when finished, the user can simply swipe the screen's edge to restore the

navigation buttons and status bars.

f. Integration with Cloud Storage- Google Drive and other cloud storage providers are

supported natively in Android 4.4 KitKat. This implies that instead of saving files to the device's

storage, the user can store and open them directly from the cloud

g. Printing on the Go- Google has included support for Google Cloud Print, making printing

documents and photos from the phone a lot easier. By using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the user is able

to print, of course with suitable printers with Wi-Fi capabilities.

h. Built-In Sensors- This Android version has two new composite sensors: a step counter and a

step detector. This allows fitness app developers to access the pedometer data without the need to

construct sophisticated code. It is paired with a hardware sensor batching, which reduces sensor

power consumption.

j. System-Wide Closed Captioning- The addition of this feature improves the user accessibility

because they can choose whether or not caption should be displayed, the language, and text's size

and font. In addition, other apps are able to access this feature and use it to display subtitles on

the user's screen.

k. Lock Screen Art- While listening to music or watching movies using Chromecast, the

locksreen will now display full screen album or movie art, as well as controls for playing,

pausing, and searching.
