¨Day of the Candelaria¨

The day of the Candelaria is a tradition celebrated in February 2 nd, it used to
celebrated the purifications of the virgin, but from the first decade of the 20 th
century the celebration of the Niño Dios took a lot of strength in Mexico, that why it
is a costume to dress the child with different outfits. In Mexico the people who find
the child in the king’s thread have to bring tamales and atole to share with
everybody
Methods I will use:
 Oral history: I will use this method because it allows me to gather the
personal memories of the people who have practiced this tradition, and to
know how important is for that people
 Participative action investigation: this method would let me participate in the
tradition and it with my own eyes and interact with the others
 Study of the case: this method because I will study the background and the
relevant events that has a relation with the tradition

Technics I will use:

 Semi-structured interview: this technics because I would make some
interviews to the people, asking how they celebrated it and why they
continue with the tradition
 Life history: I would interview some people using this technic to know how it
has been changing through all the years they have lived and practicing the
tradition
 Pictures and videos: this technics allows me to capture and see the
moments while living the tradition
