What did you learn about your writing and what did you learn about informational writing and
What we have learned so far in class has all been absolutely new. This is my first English
class and it has been more difficult than I have thought. I have never heard of rhetorical
strategies nor have I heard of the threshold concept and if I have, they were very vague
descriptions. I think practice makes perfect and since it was my first time, I was not able to do
my best that I know I can accomplish. After learning rhetorical strategies and analysis, I cannot
see movies and pieces of writing the same way again. So saying I have learned a lot sounds like
an understatement because everything was new. What I have learned about my writing is that
it is not the best. Although I do not give up on it just yet because I haven’t had enough practice
to progress. I have not written much in my life. English is not my favorable subject but I am
willing to work towards my writing. Rhetorical analysis helped me look deeper into a piece of
writing and see what they do in order to get you on their side of their argument. There are so
many ways in order to capture your vote that I have never even thought of. It has also taught
me not to fall for everything they tell you whether they are or are not a credible person. They
are styles and tones, and various strategies that can capture you without even thinking about it.
What I have learned about writing id that more goes into it than meets the first read. I learned
that sometimes you have to capture a certain audience and not always an overall audience or
vice versa. I have also learned how to revise in ways to make it effective. As annoying as it can
be to draft and prewrite and brainstorming, it helped a lot. so organizing and going through
steps in order to get a better paper than if you did not do any of the above.
