The Case of Devine

The case of Devine can be categorized as a clinical case of gender


dysphoria. Devine's experience illustrates the gap between gender identification
and biological sex since she described herself as a woman at heart despite
possessing a male body. Devine hid her feelings from his friends and family
because she thought that being gay was a sin and, was afraid to be judged.
Devine pretends to be a straight man. Devine also had sex with girls because of
the thought that it will make her straight. According to DSM- 5, those who are
diagnosed with gender dysphoria later in life sometimes admit to hiding their
feelings from others when they were younger. Devine also wants to be treated
like a real woman and, she experiences it with her foreign boyfriend. Devine has
strong desire for the primary or secondary sex characteristics of the other
gender and a strong desire to be rid of your primary or secondary sex
characteristics because she took Diane pills to grow breasts, behave and think
like a girl, wears women's clothes. Devine also likes to undergo breast and hips
implants because she said that it will her confidence in wearing any kind of
clothes and it adds confidence as she lives out being a female.
