Josefina Laperal-Tamayo founded the Perpetual Help
College of Manila in 1968. The first campus was put up to help spur health and education development in the province of Pangasinan. Dr. Antonio Laperal, the eldest son of Jose and Joselina, spearheaded the establishment of the different campuses. This was followed by the establishment of the Perpetual Help School of Laguna in 1976 and the Perpetual Help School of Laguna Foundation for Medicine and Health Sciences, now known as the University of Perpetual Help- Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University in 1977, both in Biñan, Laguna. Dr. Jose G. Tamayo, the Founding Father of the University of Perpetual Help System, was named as the founding father of the institution. The university has campuses in Las Piñas, Laguna and UPH-DJGT Medical University..
