Subject: Appeal for suspension of classes in view of the deteriorating COVID situation.

Respected Sir,

It is humbly submitted before your goodself,

That, the new surge in COVID-19 cases across the length and breadth of the country has completely
destroyed any semblance of normalcy in all our lives. A huge number of people are contracting the
virus everyday and a great many continue to perish at the hands of this scourge.

That, it will not be, by any means, wrong to conclude that most of the students and staff of our
University would also have been affected by the pandemic. This is particularly true for students of
our Faculty,, since a significant number of our students were engaged in legal internships in the
Capital at the outset of the 2nd wave of COVID-19. As a result, many were exposed to the virus and it
was naturally very difficult for them to get back to their hometowns thereafter. Furthermore a
majority of our students happen to be from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi. All these
regions have become hotbeds for COVID and thousands are dying daily as a result.

That, as your goodself would be aware, a very large number of teachers and students of the Faculty of
Law have also tested COVID positive and are bravely fighting this grave illness as we speak.

That, apart from those who have been directly affected by the disease, most have at least had
someone in their family suffer from this illness and have been on their toes to care for them. Many
have even witnessed deaths in their close family and are still reeling from the trauma.

That, on account of the reasons aforementioned, most of us have had to go through severe mental
stress and are finding it immensely difficult to carry on day to day activities at the same pace.

In that view of the matter, we the students of Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, therefore
humbly request that,

1. All ongoing classes may kindly be halted for a period of at least 15 days, so as to provide a
necessary respite and breathing space to us all.
2. The deadlines for the Internal Assessment submissions may kindly be extended forthwith
for a period of 15 days.

The same will be in the interest of student welfare.

Thanking you in anticipation,

In all Sincerity,

Students of FOL, JMI
