Describe the congenital heart disease and how it affects community engagement and

employment

Congenital heart disease refers to a general concept that ranges from birth and affects the

heart's normal function. Beyond, congenital heart disease is mainly caused by Down syndrome, a

genetic condition (Whiteson & Sweeney, 2017). Since some congenital heart disease defects

have no signs or symptoms, they may occur later in old age, which requires the patient to seek

medication. The first step when diagnosed with CHD is to get medicine from qualified

professionals to prevent further complications. Some of the medications related to CHD healing

are lithium for bipolar disorder, antibiotics prophylaxis, and isotretinoin, which treats acne. Also,

the damaged heart valves are repaired to prevent the possible structural anatomy of the valve

(Maroz et al., 2017). Beyond, CHD significantly affects the socioeconomic group due to the rates

of the deprived 10% of the population twice as high as least deprived. Also, it has negatively

impacted the employment of the people in the United States since infected people are unable to

accomplish the assigned duties.

Environmental factors might be best for helping Steven with the rehabilitation plan.

Environmental factors can influence congenital heart disease, and therefore it is essential

to reduce exposure to harmful environments. Steven's condition requires rehabilitation

environment factors such as well-ventilated rooms with fresh air, low heat, regulated latitude,

and a natural setting (Lee et al., 2017). Avoiding some environmental factors like air pollution,

lead, arsenic, and excessive heart will help Steve have a peaceful rehabilitation environment for

recovering.

The helpful referrals sources for Steve

3

I would refer Steve to a shift from the Valley area where there is no natural support since

environmental factors contribute to the congenital heart disease condition. I will also advise him

to improve physical fitness, do safe exercise, manage other cardiovascular risk elements like

smoking, and eat a healthy diet. I will further refer Steven to keep on following the treatment

plan he has been given by the physician and focus on emotional health since it is important as it

will help him remain engaged. Moreover, I will refer him to physical activity and blood pressure

physicians. All these will help him regain his strength and recover fast from the treatment given,

as they will strengthen his emotions and offer him lifestyle education.

Recommendations for Steve in the Workplace

Steven works in Briggs and Stratton as a factory worker, where he exposure to several

environmental risk factors due to her diagnosis. Briggs and Stratton deal with heavy machine

engines that use air-cooled petrol, showing they use a lot of heat and other air pollution

emissions, which is hazardous to people with CHD. I would recommend Steven o be transferred

to a more saver working unit where he can get fresh air, free from more heat, and regulated

latitude. In addition, he should be given some time to rest to reenergize himself for

accomplishing the set target.
