ARGUMENTS IN DESICION MAKING

Name: GLAIZA ANGEL B MACAPAGAL Course and Section: BSIT 2A

Direction: Write your answer, based from the situation, in the given space.

I. Samantha was raped by her step-father and got pregnant. She was advised by her
mother to abort the baby since it was made by her mother’s husband. However, it was
prohibited to have abortion on their country.
a. If you were Samantha, what will be your decision?

If I were in that situation, I would choose to abort the child because, first and foremost, it is the
result of bad memories, and secondly, if she does not have an abortion and the child grows up,
she may not be able to accept it because every time she sees the child, it will remind her of
painful memories, and also be pitying the child’s situation because the child may face
discrimination because he/she was born as a result of a sin or crime committed by his/her father,
and because the child may not receive the love of his/her mother as a result of the sin he/she did
not commit.

b. What argument/s might be involved in your answered decision? Explain.

The Wrongness of Discriminating against the Handicapped, Both the mother and the child
should not face discrimination because of what happened to her or the child’s origin.

II. A soldier just stepped on a land mine. He is surrounded by innocent people and his own
family. If he moves his foot from the land mine it will explode right away causing huge
explosion to the place.

a. What is the best decision that the soldier can make?

I will inform the innocent people who surround me of my situation, that I stepped on a land mine,
and ask them to get away from me as soon as possible to avoid serious injury.

b. What argument/s might be involved in your answered decision? Explain.

We Should Save as Many as We Can, It is a soldier's responsibility to save other people's lives
in exchange for their own.
