1. The person in charge must make an entry in the Winding Engine Drivers logbook according to the
requirements of the Regulations.

2. Signal the Winding Engine Driver to bring both the conveyances to the bank, by following the
clutching procedure.

3. The shaft examination crew walks down the shaft and examines the following:

3.1 The condition of the rails and fish plates.


3.2 The rail attachments to the sills
3.3 The condition and security of the sills
3.4 The condition and tension of the Marshall wire and insulators
3.5 The amount of spillage and objects between the rails
3.6 The condition of the hanging and side walls
3.7 The station gates, screens and drop sets - condition and security
3.8 The station drop rails - condition and security
3.9 The condition and suspension of cables and pipe columns
3.10 Spillage grizzly and the penthouse - condition and security
3.11 Condition of illumination
3.12 Condition of travelling way screens

4. On completion enter any deviations in the shaft examination logbook and arrange with the Shaft
Foreman for a convenient time to have it repaired.

NOTE

Any serious abnormalities, which can/will cause damage to property or injury to persons
must be repaired immediately and normal work is not allowed to proceed until such
abnormalities, are repaired.

5. A valid burning permission must be obtained prior to using a cutting torch in the shaft.

6. Clear the entry made in the Winding Engine Driver's logbook.
