For the time being I went back to where the carriage was parked,
then thought about what I should do in my mind. Should I inform the
guards, and have them get caught. Or maybe I should inform
Maxwell and Cortina directly, they will probably handle this with

However, I won’t have enough time to do that. They were talking

about leaving right before the closing of the gates. There’s only a
small amount of time left before that happens. Even if I sneakily try
to rescue them, it’s impossible for me to open these 『Caskets』
with my meager amount of strength. It would be close to impossible
for me to help them on my own.
Then, should I try defeating them? That’s an option but it will be

quite difficult. Not to mention that there’s three of them. If it’s one on
one then I would have a higher chance of winning, even in my
current state, however more than that would be really difficult.
「Then I only have one choice left……」
They were supposed to leave during the night, because at that

time the gatekeepers would be more lax. In other words, they won’t

extremely dense magic coating that the breath couldn’t pierce
through. However, it was only a shield. At most, it would only be able
to protect a single person.
Maria’s magic is also of the highest class of defensive magic. Her

dragon, but it has the disadvantage of shutting out all attacks

successfully drawn the aggro and received the brunt of its claws and

preventing it from reaching Lyell.
Several minutes after the battle, the stalemate was starting to

crumble. Although it was only several minutes, it was also a matter of
life or death in those several minutes alone. That small amount of
time could also be turned into a distress if not for Cortina who
controls the tactics.
「Reid!?」
It was a shout that resounded all over the cave. Then a vibration
from a thread on her hand conveyed only his voice to her.

order swing towards me.
Following the momentum of my movement as I land, I immediately

rolled on the rocky area to get away. A claw attack was aimed
towards that rocky area, but the attack never reached me.
Then suddenly, the left wing of the Evil dragon was cut off and falls
to the ground. The wing was in the opposite direction to where I
landed.

Of course, there was a reason as to why this happened. The real
purpose of my attack was distraction, and the real purpose was to tie
a steel thread from my arms to its wings. Along with that is to divert
its attack to where I was heading to, and using the Evil Dragon’s own
strength to cut off its wings that was tied to steel threads.
「Guuurrrruuaaaaaaa!?」
The Evil Dragon screamed as it was assaulted by the pain that it

had never felt before. It then aimed its hatred towards me who was
responsible for the trap. After a short rampage, it then aimed its tail
towards me to attack. It is a smart move to avoid using its head or
claws to attack, because its tail was on the ground, it might have
thought that I didn’t set a trap there. There’s also no possibility to set
up strings on the ground.
And so I activated another trap. I pulled down a net well-prepared

in advance. The spider-like web dropped from the ceiling in front of
me. The other end is entangled to a nearby a nearby rock that was
fixed on the ceiling.
The Evil Dragon swings down its tail towards me without care. The
power of the tail could easily smash boulders bringing me along in
the destruction. But that attack was blocked by the net. Needless to
say, the rock where the net was fixed wouldn’t be able to withstand
an attack that could easily crush boulders. And so the rock was
crushed and broke into pieces…… causing the ceiling to collapse.
This trap was also placed according to Cortina’s instructions. It was

up to me where it should be set up, but it seems like the setup was
within her calculations. The trap was executed beautifully……but it’s
not safe here. While barely avoiding the falling rocks, I regrouped
with Maria and the others. I won’t let myself die that early. After all,
there’s still one more tasks left for me to do.

Lyell made a dash without delay.
He was like a hero out of a storybook. I didn’t have the leeway to

gaze at the captivating sight. I had to let loose some threads. They
went to Lyell, not, they headed to his holy sword.
In response to Lyell’s movements, the Evil Dragon took a deep

breath. Judging his limbs were unusable under the collapsed rock,
he’d intercept Lyell with his breath. That decision was not wrong,
but…
“Maxwell, wind! Maria too!” “Got it!”
Maxwell immediately responded to the instructions. He shot a

strong wind at Gadius, making him catch up to Lyell. This was to
compensate for his slow speed since he’s a dwarf. Gadius quickly
overtook Lyell and raised his shield in preparation.
A scorching breath assaults him. Gadius pushes forward, pushing

through the heat.
In the back, we’re protected by Maria’s barrier. Maxwell’s wind

blocked it off as well, protecting against the dragon breath wasn’t a
problem. In fact, Maxwell was already preparing his next magic.

Along with his scream, he held his sword up and thrust with all his
strength. The sharp tip pierced through the scales and cut into its
flesh.
But it’s too shallow.
His sword isn’t short, but it’s still not enough to pierce through the
tough muscle holding up the Evil Dragon’s giant frame. The sword
came to a stop after shaving off just a bit of bone, nowhere near a
fatal wound. But at that, Cortina gave out her last command.
“Maxwell!” “It’s all over now! Scarlet Nine, Olive Nine,

Azure Nine! ThunderStorm!”
With more magical power than usual, Maxwell set off his lightning
magic. Normally he’d direct his attack to his opponent, but by
focusing entirely on maximizing the power the destructive magic was
scattering out. This magic was so powerful a person’s body might’ve
exploded at the slightest contact.
But even with that kind of power, the scales of this massive dragon
would defend from its effects, under normal circumstances, that is.
But currently, he’s pierced by Lyell’s holy sword, with my threads

tangled around the holy sword.
I let go of the threads and Lyell abandoned his sword. Maxwell’s

lightning spell spread out and flew into my thread along the wall, it
flows along the thread rushing to Lyell’s sword, the holy sword that

Even though it’s the strongest monster in the world, it is still a

The Evil Dragon stopped moving after flames erupted from it’s
eyes and mouth.
“Did, we win?” Muttered Lyell as he got up from the spot where

he was lying face-down by the Evil Dragon. No one could believe
what just happened. A group of six people defeated an Evil Dragon
that destroyed a whole country.
“We won?” Even Cortina who had planned the whole operation
couldn’t believe it. But the fallen Evil Dragon lay before our very
eyes. He had his organs burned out, his wings cut off, and was
crushed under rocks, he was dead. “Hah… haha. We did it, we
did it! Yea!”
I couldn’t hold myself back and raised my fist in triumph. Unusually

for her, Cortina reached out to embrace me.
“We did it! We did it, Reid! We defeated Colchis!” “Yea, we

did it! Well done Tina!”
Calling each other by pet names, we hugged each other and swung

we gained fame surpassing that of royalty and titled nobles.
Excluding Maxwell who was already a royal, we were just an

eyesore to the ruling class. After all, they pushed us to restore the
three northern countries destroyed by Colchis to keep us out of their
power struggle.
Luckily, a newborn survivor of the royalty there has been found,

and somehow that country has begun to successfully build itself up
around that child by all outward appearances. At their request, we
spent day-in-day-out subjugating monsters and bandits.
I suppose those days of being worked like a horse are about to

come to an end, it’s been about a year since I came to the north,
hasn’t it. Despite the continent having a stable climate, the northern
part of the country is often locked in by snow. On those days, we
would be left to our own devices to spend time leisurely locked
indoors. Lyell who stood on the frontlines, and Maria who healed his

mean, sure I’m still in my mid-20s. I did try to lead a party of

newbies and at Gadius’ request I was gonna show ‘em the ropes but I
ended up doing everything myself.
“Well, what are the newbies going to learn if you run off

and exterminate trolls and have their heads roll at your
feet.” “The trolls were too much for them though?” “You
could’ve let them gain some experience fighting one even if
they couldn’t win. Just have to stick around to make sure no
one dies.”
Gadius poured some wine into my cup and pulled another glass out
to pour whiskey into. I reached out to grab hold of my cup, but
