Crop Yield Crop yield is a measurement used in agriculture to quantify the amount of
agricultural production harvested per unit of land area.

Megacity A megacity is a huge, largely populated city. The average population of a


megacity is in the millions.
Metropolis

Migrant A migrant is a person who moves from one place to another, typically from one
country to another. This can be for better living conditions and/or for work.
Migration Migration is the process of a migrant moving from one place to another. It is the
movement from one place to another.

Natural Increase Natural increase is the term used for the difference between the number of births
and number of deaths over a period of time.
Pluralism

Population Population density is the number of people living in a location (based off the
Density size of the area).
Pull Factor Pull factors are factors that draw individuals towards a place. They “pull” them
to that area because of better housing, jobs, opportunities, etc.
Push Factor Push factors are factors that urge people away from a place. They “push” them
away because of natural disasters, wars, unsatisfactory living conditions, etc.
Rural-Urban Rural-urban migration is the term for when populations migrate from rural areas
Migration to urban areas.
Shanty Towns A shantytown is a neighborhood on the outskirts of a city with many shanties.
