Warner Bros.
Founders: Sam, Jack, Albert and Harry Warner
The Warner Bros. founders were pioneering figures in the film industry, introducing
sound to movies, creating the first four-legged film star and revolutionizing musical movies.
Starting out as travelling exhibitors in 1993, they went to open movie theaters and distribute
films throughout Pennsylvania. Quickly realizing the biggest profits lay in production. Then the
brothers then make and release movies.

Hewlett Packard or also known as “hp”


Founders: Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard
Founded in a small garage in California. Hewlett and Packard has since gone on to
become a leading PC manufacturer, producing a wide range of computer hardware while also
providing software, IT services and consultations to consumers.

McDonald’s
Founders: Richard and Maurice McDonald
McDonald’s was originally set up by Richard and Maurice in 1940, starting out as a
barbeque restaurant and developing into a hamburger stand in 1948. Businessman Ray Kroc
joined the team in 1995 and subsequently purchased the company from the brothers, founding
the McDonald’s Corporation in the same year.

Google
Founders: Larry Page and Sergey Brin
The creators of google first met at Stanford University in 1995; but after joining forces to
devise an early working version of their search engine, they left three years later with their
doctorates unfinished. At that point, they had gathered together $1million in funding from
investors and were receiving 10,000 visitors a day.

Ben & Jerry’s


Founders: Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield
The kings of ice cream world, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield set up their company in
1978, and five years later their annual sales hit $4million. The company was sold for
$326million in 2000.
5 Sole Proprietorship Businesses
Financial Planner
Sole proprietors work as financial planners, offering their services to individuals and
small businesses. They help families plan for retirement, save for college expenses and invest in
securities. Financial planner catering to businesses may help a company set up its employee
retirement packages and other employee benefits.

Landscaper
A landscaper may work alone or hire a small team of employees. Landscapers maintain
lawns, plants and trees of homeowners and businesses. Most landscaping companies working
with commercial customers hire employees to work on projects.

Catering Company
Catering companies offer their services for parties, weddings, church functions and
business events. In most cases, a sole proprietor operating a catering company needs to hire
employee.

Small Shops and Boutiques


When you enter a neighbor store such as flower shop, pizza and sub shop or hardware
store, you generally greeted by the same one or two people. But most of these small businesses
are more likely sole proprietorship if the owner did not declare another structure, such as limited
liability company.

Tutoring
Tutoring businesses provide learning assistance to students in a variety of subjects.
Tutors may work with students in person or through online video chats. Many tutors have
teaching experience or extensive knowledge in the subject they are teaching.
