Courtesy cost nothing but buys everything

“Courtesy cost nothing but buys everything” – Ali Ibn Abu Talib. As human,
it’s a fact that one has an instinct to be courteous towards each other. Courtesy is
an act of civility and good manners which has been guiding mankind through all
the stages of civilization. A lot of people neither annoyed nor irritated by this
particular topic, the topic that was admired by every religion and has lead the
humanity towards where we are now. It’s our job to be incompetent thus reckon
with foresee this matters hence our generation that will someday lead this world
will make the future a greater place. Now let me ask you, does courtesy really
cost nothing but buys everything?
“When restraint and courtesy are added to strength, the latter becomes
irresistible” – Mahatma Gandhi. When it comes to the word “courtesy”, one has
to know that it wasn’t a complex thing. A simple line such as “thank you” or
saying “please” is a courtesy itself. An even simpler situation such as smile politely
when encounter elderly senior is still a courtesy deeds at it’s the purest form.
Some people might have thought that this occasion is a complicated thing thus
people often blind when it comes to this subject matters. We all should either
know or agree that the most basic definition about it that we should be kind to all
kind of people no matter what’s the circumstances, as long as another person
receive one kindness.
“For those who are always courteous and respectful of elders, four things
increase: life, beauty, happiness and strength.”-Gautama Buddha. There is a
problem that lays among our generation nowadays regarding our topic todays
and that’s our society is full of boastful people or simpler ways to describe it is
attention-seeker. For instance, when a pregnant woman was in front of you, you
shouldn’t give your seat to the woman if your heart true intention was screaming
to seek attention from people around you. Similarly, when an elderly lady beside
you at the next side of a road need to cross the road, you shouldn’t help her if
attention that you seek. It’s because, although one will look good in people’s
eyes, our heart will be corrupted with arrogant, selfishness and boastful minded.
“When a courteous greeting is offered to you, greet in return with a
greeting still more courteous, or at least of equal courtesy. Surely, Allah keeps an
account of all your actions.” – An Nisa – 86. Let’s take a good look at our holy
Prophet Muhammad PBUH. On occasion, he would always be courteous towards
everybody no matter what was their skin, names, religion even his enemies. Not
only that, every day, he will raise his hand and pray to the only god so that his
followers even after his death will always put the word “courteous” deep down in
their hearts. Our God is always loving and caring towards us even though some of
us have commit an atrocious act of infidelity. Consequently, we ought to obey it
and it’s our duty to execute Allah’s order.
To sum it up, I think it’s proven by now that courtesy indeed cost nothing
but buys everything. It buys happiness, satisfactions as well thank full in our daily
life. It has been manifested by the fact that throughout the saga of humankind,
without courteous, mankind perhaps would not stand where we’ve stood right
now. I’ve yearn so that our generation will be hold onto the word “courtesy” in
their heart till the denouement of the oblivion.
