Bichronous Approach
As online learning becomes a more frequent paradigm for
higher education courses, institutions and teachers should look
into the advantages of combining synchronous and
asynchronous elements in online learning to get the most out of
both settings. Bichronous online learning is defined as the
combination of asynchronous and synchronous online learning,
in which students can learn whenever and wherever they want
during the asynchronous portions of the course but participate
in real-time activities during the synchronous sessions.

The talk highlights the evaluation on how to blend synchronous

and asynchronous approach, the best practices on how and
when to apply synchronous and asynchronous approach. After
watching the live chat, I have discovered that the approach being
utilized by our instructors now is a bichronous approach. I have
learned that there is a disconnection between the synchronous
and asynchronous approach depending on the lesson or concept
that you are going to teach. The talk reminds us how distance
learning must foster indepent learning between learners. To give
them space and an opportunity to become independent learners.
As educators we should not forgot the core of online learning
which is to engage and make meaningful learning. There will be
countless of challenges and factors that hinder distance
learning. Hence, as educators, let us help our learners to
surpass all of it through guiding them and providing them the
right approach towards the teaching and learning process.
