Working in Groups
Student’s Name
Institutional Affiliation
A group are people who team up together to achieve the same goal. Working in groups
has several advantages to individuals. To begin with, when individuals work in groups,
performance and productivity are increased. Moreover, groups that work efficiently are able to
achieve more than individuals working on their own.
Question 1
A group can be defined as a group of individuals who work together to meet a common
objective or goal. The core elements in a group are a common objective and complementary
skills. Individuals need to be committed in their group. All members in a group should work
towards the success of the team by being collectively responsible.
People work together in groups so that they achieve things that no individual working
alone could achieve. However, to achieve such success, group members need to be highly
effective. Group members need to give feedback to other members in the group.
There are a few elements that a team needs to establish so as to succeed in their set
objective. Group members should establish goals and commit to them. They should also develop
strategies that they will follow to achieve the goals [ CITATION Mar141 \l 1033 ]. Lastly, the group
should develop the process they will use to get the project done.
Question 2
Stage presence involves the qualities a speaker uses to engage the audience as they
deliver a speech. As a speaker, Dr. Marty Martin stood out because he uses a clear and
convincing voice to the audience. He also uses gestures, that makes the audience attentive and
keen. He also maintains eye contact with his audience.

Question 4
According to the talk, the most important things in our lives are not the achievements we
make in our lives, but are the people we achieve with. When we are open to let other people in

our lives, we open a chance to innovation and creativity. Great things happen when people work
together
Sometimes, individuals are able to achieve great things when they work in groups rather
than work with others. Sometimes we spend so much time working on something on our own,
but when we involve other people, the project breaks through. We should not concentrate on the
things we hope to achieve, but the relation of the people we work with to achieve greatness.
The huge problem however, is that finding the right people to work with is a huge
challenge. Individuals therefore need to let themselves let things happen to them by accident. It
will be easier to find people to work together with by meeting new people, interacting to them
and sharing ideas with them.
Question 5
The speaker in the presentation stands out because, he engages his audience throughout
the presentation. At the beginning of his speech, he uses a catch phrase to capture the attention of
the audience. He also employs the use of gesture and body movement.
In conclusion, working in groups has several advantages. It improves creativity and
innovation. It also enhances relationships between individuals. As discussed above, a group can
only be effective if the members are committed to bringing out the best in the group. Group
members should also be committed to the group and give feedback to each other. A good team
should establish goals for the team and develop strategies on how to achieve the goals. An
effective group is able to achieve more than an individual working alone can achieve.
