13-13. Why does human resource management represent one of the major
challenges faced by foreign companies entering the Chinese market?

HRM identifies the much important and most essential issue which is experienced
by foreign companies coming in the market of China. The main issue is absence of
competent management. In the markets of china, it is question that whether the
companies must use the facilities of the expat executive from foreign country or
exploit the services of a local talent manager. This is the main issue in markets of
China. All companies of west are facing the same issue in some respect. These
issues had been identified for a long time, as the start of the Deng’s Open Door
policy which in 1979 opened China to foreign companies’ straight financing. In
markets of China, the companies are facing this main issue. The efficient
management is big challenge in China’s markets.

13-14. What are the main issues expat managers generally face?

Main issues that expat managers generally face are culture conflict and language
skill in complicated Chinese business environment. Chinese is one of the hardest
language to learn. Even organizing a banquet can be daunting experience for
someone not acquainted with the local culture. Besides that, expat manager who
have a solid experience of the country and speak Mandarin is the high demand that
they are normally very expensive.
13-15. Why don’t foreign companies simply hire local staff instead of reaching out
for foreign managers?

If foreign companies simply hire local staff instead of reaching out for foreign
managers, they need to train them to function in western companies. It may be very
expensive and the process painfully slow, especially if the hiring is done privately
by passing the expensive.

13-16. What advice would you give companies such as Maersk on their human
resource management policies?
The Maersk Company should do optimization employees from top to bottom. For
instance, employees should be had qualified and work in quantity, quality, and
efficiency. Furthermore, the company should be used the technologies instead of
where can shrink labor in order to avoid moving part of their business to another
place.
