Christmas sock 1
This sock is knitted in the round, from the cuff down, and with three colorwork sections on the
leg. The heel is shaped using the German short rows method.
The pattern is written for knitting on DPN’s (but can be knitted using magic loop or any other
circular preferred method).
For larger or smaller sizes, you can adjust the number of pattern repeats, taking into account that the final
number of stitches should be a multiple of 12 to accommodate pattern.

Materials:
Light worsted weight yarn, 100% polyacryl
(50 g (1.76 oz) = 75 m (82 yd))
Color A: 35 g (1.23 oz), 52.5 m (58 yd), 1 skein
Color B: 25 g (0.90 oz), 37.5 m (42 yd), 1 skein
Color C: 20 g (0.72 oz), 30 m (33 yd), 1 skein
Needles: DPN’s 4 mm (US 6).
Gauge:
18 sts x 23 rows in 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4″)
worked over stockinette stitch, blocked.
Our recommendation is to make a swatch
with the yarn of your choice to ensure the
final product fits the desired size.

Scissors, removable stitch markers, a Sizes & measurements:

tapestry needle, and a row counter are
recommended. This sock is worked in one size.

The sample shown in the photo is knitted using The size of the finished piece is:
Grundl Lisa Premium uni in Color A: green circumference 16.5 cm (6.5″),
(16-Tannen grün), Color B: red (12-Signalrot) foot length 31 cm (12.2″), and
and Color C: white (01-weiß). height measured from heel 34 cm (13.40″).

Notes:
★ The sock is worked in the round.
★ Needle 1 (also a beginning of a round)
and needle 2 are the back of the sock
and needles 3 and 4 are the front of the
sock.
★ When cast on, leave a 15 cm (6″) tail to
make a loop for hanging the sock.

Abbreviations:
K – knit st/sts – stitch/es
DS – double stitch: slip the stitch purlwise with the yarn in
P - purl
front and pull the yarn to the back of the work over the top
k2tog – knit 2 sts together knitwise (1 st decrease)
of the right needle and create two loops out of the same
ssk – slip 2 sts knitwise, return these 2 sts to left
stitch. Take care to pull yarn snuggly.
needle, knit these 2 sts together (1 st decrease)
KDS - knit double stitch
RS - right side of the work
PDS - purl double stitch
WS - wrong side of the work
m - stitch marker
rnd/s – round/s
slm - slip marker

Instructions:
With color A cast on 60 sts and join to knit in the round,
be careful not to twist your work.
Knit 15 rds in K2, P2 ribbing.
K all for one rnd. Break yarn.

Chart 1
Bow section (Chart 1)
Join color B. Color B: K all for two rnds.
Join color C. Color C: K all for one round.
With colors, B and C work 10 rnds of Chart 1.
Color C: K all for one rnd
Color B: K all for two rnds. Break yarn.

Chart 2

Snowflake section (Chart 2)

Join color A. Color A: K all for one rnd.
With colors A and C work 11 rnds of Chart 2.
Color A: K all for one rnd.

Christmas tree section (Chart 3)

Color C: K all for two rnds. Break yarn. Join color B.
With colors A and B work 15 rounds of Chart 3.
Break yarn A and join color C.
With color C K to one sts before the end of the rnd,
with color B K1.
Continue to the heel section.

Heel:
The heel is worked in color B only over half of the sts, on needles 1 and 2.
Knit 10 stitches and put a stitch marker, knit the next 10 stitches and place the stitch marker,
Knit remaining 10 stitches.

Turn the knit on the WS.

Row 1 (WS): DS, P to end on needle 2. Turn.
Row 2 (RS): DS, K to DS. Turn.
Row 3: DS, P to DS. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have one sts before the first and one sts after the second stitch
marker.

From now on you will work on all sts in the round for 2 Rnds.

Rnd 1: DS, slm, K to next m, KDS10, K to next m, KDS10, K to next m.

Rnd 2: K to the second m, slm, K1
Turn the knit on the WS.

Row 1 (WS): DS, P to the second m, slm, P1. Turn.

Row 2 (RS): DS, K to DS, KDS1, K1. Turn.
Row 3: DS, P to DS, PDS, P1
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you reach the end of needle 2.
Row 4: DS, K to one sts before the end of needle 2, KDS1.

From now on you will work on all sts in the round for two Rnds.

 Join color C.
Rnd 1: K to m, slm, KDS, K to the end.
Rnd 2: K all
Join color A.
Rnd 3 and 4: K all
Color B:
Rnds 5 and 6: K all
Color C:
Rnds 7 and 8: K all

Repeat Rnds 3 to 8 five times in total.

Continue to the toe section.

Toe:
Break colors B and C. and continue with color A.
Knit one row.
Rnd 1: K1, SSK, knit to the last 3 sts of needle 2, K2tog, K1 (Repeat on needles 3 and 4)
Rnd 2: Knit

Continue these two rounds until you have 10 stitches left on each needle. Graft together
using the Kitchener stitch and weave in all ends.
