1. The Indonesians are known for their Wayang Puppet Theatre. Wayang has two forms Wayang Kulit and
Wayang Klitik. Looking at the picture below compare the two forms of Wayang Puppet theatre. What are the

2. This theatrical art form of Wayang Puppet Theater is popular because of its very detailed puppets,
elaborate music and unique form of storytelling. What makes the music and the storytelling of the Wayang Puppet
Theater unique? (5 points)

ANSWER: Wayang is unique because it is a traditional form of puppet theatre play originally found in the culture of
Java Indonesia, the traditional form of puppet theatre art can be found in indonesia, and its origins are traced to the
spread of hinduism and it is unique because of the materials that they use.

3. Thailand was known for their two enchanting festivals namely The Loy Krathong Festival of Light and
Yi Peng Lantern Festival. Looking at the pictures below, what makes these two festivals of Thailand an art form?

Yi peng lantern festival is a religious holiday, tradition go back to the ancient time of the lanna kingdom to
show respect to Buddha ,Loy krathong is to show respect to the goddess of water by releasing beautiful
lotus, these two is an art form because it shows respect to their goddess and they have traditional by doing
that those things it is an art form because they make a lantern and floating lotus .

4. The Merlion statue in Singapore has already become the national emblem and symbol of their country. It
is depicted as a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish. What is the significance of the Merlion
Statue in Singapore and what makes this statue an art form? (5 points)

ANSWER: Merlion statue symbolizes singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing village and it is a art because it
show of being a humble as a fishing village, and because its also a tourist spot in Singapore, by being a humble
they show respect to each other so that they make a statue of merlion.

5. The Angkor Wat in Cambodia is one of the largest religious structures ever built. Originally built to honor
Hindu god Vishnu, but this Site was transformed into a Buddhist temple in the 14th century. With its name
literally means temple city.

ANSWER: Because it is dedicated to the god Vishnu for the khemer empire and it was gradually transform into a
Buddhist temple and because it is the largest religious monuments in the world.

b. Go online and search what are the challenges or problems that the Angkor Wat is facing right now and
why? If you were to be given a chance to solve this problem, how are you going to address to preserve this
World Heritage Site? (5 points)

ANSWER: The problems of ankor wat is because of the monsoon rains the ankor wat damaged so that to preserve
the ankor wat we should care the temple and share it to other people that don’t know what is ankor wat, if I given a
chance to solve this problem I will fix the damages in the temple and I will make it more beautiful .

6. The Malaysians are known for their colorful kites called the Wau.  It is called 'Wau' because the shape of

a. What makes the Wau kite of Malyasia unique? What are the materials that the craftsman used to be able
to create this beautiful art craft? (5 points)

ANSWER: Wau kite is Unique because of its shape, their ideas in making kite and it is colorful also they make the
kite with a beautiful bamboo, news paper , colored paper, designed paper and glue.
b. Why is Wau considered as dying art form of Malaysia?? What can we do to preserve this art form? (5
points)

ANSWER: By sharing to those people that don’t know how beautiful is wau kite and by making more kites, Wau
considered as dying art because of its design and their culture, by preserving that arts on the next generation they
will see how beautiful that arts of Malaysia.
