Transformer configuration

and the effects on SFRA

Presented by: Michelle Ward

Transformer Shipment Configuration

• What configuration is the transformer

going to be in when SFRA is performed?

– Actual Bushings
– Oil or no Oil
– Spark plug bushings
– Special Test Leads
– Tap Position
Example

Before Shipment – Oil and Actual Bushings

After Shipment -> Oil and Actual Bushings

Primary Winding Link Changed
Summary - why are these results different?

• Communication is key
• Should have the factory SFRA data upfront

• Field testing, must have transformer in the same

configuration to avoid confusion

• Think ahead, be prepared for site testing

conditions. Put it in your specification
Thanks for coming!
