Domestic Violence can be defined as a pattern or behavior in any relationship.

Narrator: A lot of us are facing different challenges in our life that will affect our kids, partner,
other people, and the community as well. Amidst this global crisis many of us are depress and
stress due to our situation where it’s hard to find job opportunities, ideas on how to grow a
business during this pandemic, and how to survive for everyday living.

There is a small family named Agustin Family. Ben is the father, Ana is the mother, and Roy is
their child.
Their family in the beginning was just like this..
Ben: We can get what we want in life, it’s just a money.
Ana: Honey, I want an LV bag for my collection.
Ben: You can buy it tomorrow…
Get the money on our bank account
***
Ana: Honey, why not we try to put up small business?
It’s a good idea right?
Ben: yeah that’s a great

***
After a few months their business is growing…
Ben: Why not we try to have another business?
Ana: That’s a great idea!
***
At first their business was all good…
But a big problem came to their business that they weren’t expecting.
(While Ana is in their room the aircon got off)
Ana: What happen?
Maid: Madam, our electric bill gets high and they decided to cut it off.
(The door gets rang; the maid opens it…)
Man: Good day! Is Mrs. Agustin here?
Maid: Ah uhm… She’s not here; I do not know where she is.
Man: Please inform her that the money they borrowed from our bank was due last month, I
emailed her but she didn’t reply to any of it that’s why I decided to came here.
Maid: yeah thanks. I will tell it to her when she get home.

Every day different people go to their house looking for Mr. & Mrs. Santos
Their business now is not as good as before… problems are coming day by day

Ana: What we’re going to do?

We need to pay our debt…

Ben: (Shouting) shut your mouth!

While Roy is in his grandparents, he saw a toy gun and pointed it on his cousin. They were all
shocked by what he did.

Grandmother: Roy! Why did you do that?

Grandfather: that’s not good.

Ben: huh? But I saw my dad doing it to mom. So I think that’s okay, I’m sorry.

***

GrandF: It’s not good to raise a child with that kind of environment. We have to do something

GrandM: but what are we going to do. Ana will get mad to us if we make a move without her
consent.

GrandF: okay let’s just talk to Anna first. That’s the least thing we

One day when Ana’s mom was in the grocery, she saw Mrs. Cruz, Ana’s neighbor.
Neighbor: Hi! Your Ana’s mother, right?

GM: Yes, why?

Neighbor: We heard Ana and Roy arguing last night.

Grandma: I didn’t know that

Neighbor: any way that’s not the first time we heard them fighting. I guess there’s something
wrong between them. The other day, different people coming to their house and I thought they’re
from the bank where Ana get loan, some of them are their business partners.

GM: (Shock…) What?

Neighbor: We’re just concern to Ana and her child’s situation. Did already Ana mention it to
you?

GM: No, not yet. The last time we talk, she said they were all good and busy about their business
so I didn’t mind to ask already.

Neighbor: Their business was already bankrupt. I guess that’s the reason why they’re fighting
every day. They were both depress on what is happening to their life.

(At the Agustin’s Resident)

GrandF: How was the business?

Ana: Ah uhmm… It’s doing great dad

GF: oh that’s good.

How are you and Ben?

Ana: uhmm we’re all good dad, we’re happy as always (then smile yung pilit lang)

GrandF: What happened to that mark on your shoulder? You look so depress this past few days.

You already loss weight, what happened my dear?

Ana: Oh! I’m just tired dad. I’m doing great. Don’t worry too much about me I’m all good-
everything is okay.

The next day

Grandma: Ana may ask something, if you don’t mind.

Ana: yes mom what is it?

Grandma: I saw your neighbor the other day and she mentioned about your situation with Ben.

Ana: what situation you’re talking about mom?

Grandma: Then the other when Roy is in our house, he mentioned that you have a red make up
on your eyes and crying so I think Ben was abusing you.

Ana: No! That’s not true. Ben was a loving husband, he’s a good man. There were just times that
he was tired and stress to work. Normal things for husband and wife to have some argument,
isn’t it?

Grandma: that’s not what your neighbor told me. Come on Ana don’t cover up your husband.

Ana: Mom, (started to cry) what am I supposed to do?

I can’t leave my husband dad… I need him…we need him

Grandma: but your son need you the most. The environment he had isn’t healthy anymore.

Ana: mom

GF: We’re always here for you Ana.

Ana: but mom.. It wasn’t an easy thing to do

GF: yes ana I know but you have to do something before it gets worse… I’m afraid for you and
to roy

Ana: okay dad I’ll think about it

***

Ben: You. What are you telling to my wife? Are you trying to destroy our marriage?

GM: I will not allow you again to hurt your wife and your child

Ben: This is my family! It’s none of your business. You are destroying our family.

GF: No! You are. Your actions are hurting your own family. I know that your parents did not
teach you to act this way.
Roy: (hindi nakapag salita)

GF: My son! If you do not stop this you will lose your family.

***

(Roy and Ana POV)

Ben: do you really want to end this Ana. How about Roy?

Ana: He’s my son. I will not raise my child in a house wherein people are too violent. Think
about it Ben, it’s up to you if you’ll change or not.

Narrator: Domestic violence affects all people. It happens in every community. It can happen to
anybody. It is not your fault if you are a victim of domestic violence, do not feel bad about
yourself. Many people can help you on this situation. Violence against women and children can
be stopped. It won’t be easy but people working together can make it happen.

Many children exposed to violence in the home are also victims of physical abuse. Children who
witness domestic violence or are victims of abuse themselves are at serious risk for long-term
physical and mental health problems. Children who witness violence between parents may also
be at greater risk of being violent in their future relationships. It is essential to recognize the signs
of domestic violence and report the abuser if it is happening around you or to you.
