Context: In communicating between speakers, one must follow the principles of cooperation, so

that the conversation can run smoothly, as stated by (Grice, 1975) that the component of
conversational cooperation is called the principles of cooperation. In addition, the utterances
conveyed by speakers are sometimes not the real meaning, and through the tone of speech, and
expression, it is possible to analyze the implied meaning of the utterance, and expression.

Objective: This study aims to see how maxims violations occurred on Indonesian talk shows
with western talk shows, this study also aims to find out what maxims violations were committed
in the "Lapor Pak" and "Norm Macdonald Live w/ Tom Green Season 1 Eps 2" programs.
Before looking at the violation of maxims, the researcher looks at the meaning of each utterance
through the tone of the speakers' speech and expression, whether there is an implied meaning in
the utterance. Each answer from the speaker will be analyzed including the meaning of the word
denotative or connotative through the intonation of the speaker's tone of voice, and expression.
After that, it is seen that the answer is included in what maxim violation.

Site: The data limitation stems from the YouTube video "Norm Macdonald Live w/Tom Green,
which aired on April 27, 2019, and “Lapor Pak”

Design and data: The data was obtained from the transcript of the conversation in the event
“Norm Macdonald Live w/ Tom Green Season 1 Eps 2.”, and “Lapor Pak”. Data were analyzed
and classified using the cooperative principle theory by Grice (1975), and the meaning theory
from Grice (1969).

Theory: Conversations were classified, and analyzed using Grice's theory (1975), and combined
with Grice's (1969) Meaning Theory, and also it is combined with prosody in linguistics to
identity the tone of the speakers. The conversation is written and then analyzed including its
denotative or connotative meaning through the speaker's expression is then analyzed including
what kind of maxim violation.
