Hotel Apartment
Definition:
• Hotel Apartment: A building designed for or containing both apartments and individual
guest rooms or suites of rooms and apartments, wherein is maintained an inner lobby
through which all tenants must pass to gain access to the apartments and catering to
permanent and not transient tenants and which furnish services ordinarily furnished by
hotels.
• Hotel Apartment Resident: One who resides in a particular place permanently or for an
extended period
• Hotel Apartment Worker: A person who is working in a Hotel Apartment
• Service Apartment Studio: An apartment with a living space and a bathroom and a small
kitchen in a Hotel Apartment Building
• GFA: Refer to GFA definition. Unless otherwise specified GFA means total GFA
Requirements:
Studio
• Hotel Apartment Resident: 1 person/Hotel Apartment
• Hotel Apartment Worker: 1 person for every 5 Hotel Apartments
One Bedroom
• Hotel Apartment Resident: 2 persons/Hotel Apartment
• Hotel Apartment Worker: 1 person for every 5 Hotel Apartments
Two Bedrooms
• Hotel Apartment Resident: 3 persons/Hotel Apartment
• Hotel Apartment Worker: 1 person for every 5 Hotel Apartments
Three Bedrooms and Above
• Hotel Apartment Resident: 1 person/Bedroom
• Hotel Apartment Worker: 1 person for every 5 Hotel Apartments
Conditions:
• At the planning and design stage population requirements are calculated on the basis
of 1 person/350 Sq Ft. of total GFA.
Notes:
• Hotel Apartment Residents are the primary indicators for calculating water and sewerage
requirements.
