Baroque Art
The style of artworks during the Baroque period were characterized by restlessness,
instability and turbulence.

In painting, baroque artists employ diagonal and zigzag lines which suggest instability and
turbulence expressions. These diagonal lines are reinforced by the isle of arcs, spirals and
twisting lines.

Baroque arts primarily aim at the reaching of emotions through the senses. Many paintings
create illusions of space reaching upwards into the sky seem to go higher into the heavens.

In sculpture, baroque style presents diagonal, floating curves which express intense
emotionalism. Ecstasy of St. Theresa by dynamic appeal, and drama.

The architecture of baroque style is marked by a highly ornamented facade. It usually makes
use of massive and twisted columns with sculpture motifs and embellishments, scrolls, trellis
turns and angels.

Rococo Art
The French King Louis V and Louis VI developed the aristocratic style in art known as
the rococo. The word comes from the French Rocaille, wearing shell or couch which was the
popular motif of the Rococo art
